Interview with Sera Bagnall, Designer and Director

What is the flavour of life? We've tried to get to the bottom of a truly profound question.

Nothing speaks to the soul quite like the senses. Nothing excites us more than the taste, touch, smell, sound and sight in living.
The Staple & Hue FLAVOUR Capsule fashions sensational moments, where you are free to explore the limits of what makes you, you. Sit down with the one and only Sera, the creative eyes and brain behind Staple & Hue.
Q: They say the quickest way to someone's heart is through their stomach, what has been delighting your tastebuds recently?
A: By day, I can’t go past a Matcha Latte on oat milk with a dash of honey! It’s a mouthful of the very best kind. By night, a chilled pinot noir is my go-to.
Q: Do you believe that love looks not with the eyes? And in the case that it did, what is something that you could look at forever?
A: I could stare at New Zealand forever. The landscapes are so spectacular and the entire country is a sight for the sorest of eyes and also my homeland!
Q: Our fingertips can sense emotional touch, and sends messages to our brain that we are connected to that feeling - what is something you love touching?
A: I adore a moment of physical touch but there is one kind that tops the list - greeting my best friends with a big cuddle every morning before we watch the sunrise. There’s something about the freshness of the day that makes those hugs all the more special. If not my friends, I will always love warm hugs from Mum and Dad on weekends.
Q: I understand that Staple and Hue curates a mood-based playlist, exclusively made for each Collection, what is your favourite music genre/artists of all time?
A: Music comes wherever I go. I'm an RnB girl through-and-through but I also love hiphop and rap, soul, afrobeats and a bit of funk! My favourite artists of the moment are Brent Faiyaz, Summer Walker, H.E.R, SZA, Steve Lacy, Greentea Peng and IAMDDB.
Q:Your senses retain memories, is there a particular scent that emanates a special moment in time or makes you feel nostalgic.
A: Scent is everything! It can make an outfit or event that much more memorable. I especially love Philosykos by Diptyque - I was gifted this perfume by a friend I met in NYC. Every time I smell it, it takes me straight back to one of the best vacations I've had and also transports me to my favourite city in the world.
Q: For the visual admirers among us, what colours you are loving currently?
A: I'm a sucker for neutral tones. They suit every skin tone and pair so effortlessly to complete the simplest look. Tones I'm currently loving are creamy browns, muted greens and creamy vanillas - all of which I deliberately wove into our FLAVOUR Capsule.
Excite each of your senses in indulgence, dressing your sight in timeless tones and your touch in soft ribbed knit.
Take your time, revel in the flavours of life in the Staple & Hue FLAVOUR Capsule.
